Capacity Building for the West Central Public Health Partnership 

Goal: Improve the West Central Public Health Partnership’s capacity to operate as a collective, thereby contributing to a sustainable public health system that ensures community and environmental wellness.

Prioritization process & further information on the priorities WCPHP considered

Strategies:

#1 Attain and streamline flexible, fluid funding in order to cross-support projects and initiatives

and proactively address emerging needs.

#2 Conduct a comprehensive public health capacity landscape analysis to identify gaps in

behavioral health services and how those services are provided.

#3 Pilot an internal communications system to keep WCPHP counties up to date on latest

happenings, trainings, successes, challenges.

#4 Pilot a communications system to continuously engage and collaborate with WCPHP

stakeholders.

#5 Realign the partnership’s agreements and commitments.


Behavioral & Mental Health

Goal: Promote holistic individual and community wellbeing and build confidence in the public health system in order to improve mental and behavioral health outcomes.

Prioritization process & further information on the priorities WCPHP considered

Strategies:

#1 Train all local public health staff within the West Central region on behavioral and mental

health conditions and available resources in order to be able to advocate and educate the

public and to improve readiness to refer and speak confidentially to a community member

in need.

#2 External education: Educate the public about behavioral and mental health topics and

advocate on behavioral and mental health topics with community partners.
